The evolution of poetry in the nineteenth century, where the emergence of the prose poem played a particularly important role, led to significant changes which, on the one hand, weakened the position of lyricism and regularity and, on the other, paved the way for the domination of descriptive and narrative poems. Un certain Plume [A Certain Plume] by Henri Michaux indicates that, especially within this group of texts by Michaux, one can discern narrative elements whose structure aligns with the principles of the poetic function.
