Abstract

This article focuses on the research problem that is the specificity of elections for the president of Polish capital. The purpose of this article is to answer the research question, what unique features, in comparison to other large Polish cities, were specific of the election for the office of the Mayor of Warsaw in 2018. To this end, the following hypothesis was verified: the specificity of the election of the president of the capital city of Warsaw in 2018 was fundamentally different from presidential elections in other Polish cities. This scientific supposition was verified separately on each level of analysis: systemic conditions, socioeconomic factors, personal strategies, coverage of campaigns in the mass media and election results. The Warsaw's election was compared with those in the next four largest Polish cities: Cracow, Lodz, Wroclaw and Poznan.
