Frost hummocks, unsorted circles and unsorted soil stripes have been studied on Banks Island. Sections cut through these features show direction of mass movement which produced them. Genetic hypotheses are suggested for their for mation. It is hoped that the description given will help in the recognition of these structures in fossil periglacial context.
