ORIGINAL TITLE: Les phenomenes periglaciaires au Pleistocene ancien et moyen aux Pays-Bas
There are numerous indications of the existence of periglacial climatic conditions in the different parts of the Early and Middle Pleistocene in Holland. This existence has been demonstrated by palinological as well as sedimentological studies. Mention must be made of coarse material formations of great extension and of sand and clay blocks that were evidently transported in the shape of frozen masses. The best known among the older periglacial formations are covering sands, loess and fluvial deposits from the Riss time. There may also be some older deposits of the same or similar type, which have not been as yet satisfactorily studied. As concerns periglacial phenomena in Early Pleistocene formations, some involutions were found and numerous syngenetic ice-wedges of the Early and Middle Pleistocene were observed.
