Struktury pasowe widoczne na zdjęciach lotniczych występuję na pokrytej cienką warstwą gliny kredzie, rozciągającej się od East Riding w Yorkshire do Wiltshire. Pasy są najczęściej obserwowane w regionie Breckland w East Anglia i tracą na znaczeniu jako czynnik determinujący zmienność gleby wraz z oddalaniem się od tej lokalizacji. W miarę wzrostu odległości od Breckland pasy pojawiają się na wyższych wysokościach i najczęściej występują na łagodnie nachylonych grzbietach terenu. Tekstura gleb różni się pomiędzy lokalizacjami występowania pasów.
