Abstract

During the symposium in Abisko, four longer and two shorter excursions were organised. The aim was to illustrate various challenges encountered in high mountains. Guidebooks were written for the four longer excursions. The leaders provided a general introduction to geology, morphology, periglacial features, slope development, and so on, followed by descriptions of the various sites. The most important of these were the Luopakte and Kaisepakte Mountains, Narvik, Katkevagge, Lâktatjâkko Valley, and Rakkasjâkke Valley.
