ORIGINAL TITLE: Les fentes accompagnant la dégradation du pergélisol pléistocène

The paper reports observations of wedge-shaped cracks found in the lignite quarry at Turów, Lower Silesia. Structural and sedimentological analyses show that these forms did not originate from frost processes but from the shrinkage of lignite masses during the thawing of early Holocene permafrost. Piasecki describes their morphology, stratigraphic position and orientation, concluding that the features developed during the degradation of permafrost, rather than during its formation. The study contributes to understanding the mechanisms associated with the decay of Pleistocene permafrost and the genesis of crack-like structures in periglacial environments.
