Periglacial structures on Triassic limestones in the vicinity of Tarnowskie Góry and Mierzęcice

In the vicinity of Tarnowskie Góry and Mierzęcice (the northern margin of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin), Triassic limestones and marls show evidence of frost weathering. Cryogenic disturbances and permafrost wedges also occur in this area. It is possible that these structures formed during the Baltic (Weichselian) glaciation.
