Abstract

In the area of the Weymouth Lowland, solifluction deposits and associated landforms have been preserved, indicating the presence of three major periglacial episodes. The surface deposits reflecting periglacial activity are thin and discontinuous, occurring primarily in association with former land surfaces at elevations of approximately 120, 60–85 and 15–33.5 metres above present sea level. Periglacial processes had a limited impact on the development of the major landforms.
