ORIGINAL TITLE: Genèse et signification paléoclimatique des limons à doublets de Normandie
The bedded structure of limons à doublets is not due to morphological processes such as sheet wash and Iaminar solifluction. It is to be explained by the migration of fine clay and iron in the loess. The first stage is the loss of carbonate during the accumulation of the loess. Next the liberated fine clay and iron accumulates in the less permeable layers during milder climatic periods (bioturbation). The formation of limons à doublets implies a moister periglacial environment than typical loess with short periods of climatic amelioration.
