Studies of colluvial deposits in southwest England revealed significant variability in their physical properties. Analysis of 84 samples allowed for the assessment of the influence of source material (bedrock lithology) and transport processes (mainly solifluction) on sediment characteristics such as mean grain size, skewness, sorting, matrix colour, roundness, and clast orientation. The results showed that lithology significantly affects sediment properties, while at the local scale, factors such as transport distance and slope aspect are dominant. These findings indicate a complex formation process of colluvial deposits, governed by both lithological conditions and dynamic periglacial processes.
