Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie skutków działalności środowiska peryglacjalnego podczas plejstocenu na obszarze Polski. Analiza osadów, struktur zmarzlinowych i form rzeźby umożliwiła wydzielenie dwóch podstawowych facji morfogenetycznych – detrytycznej i tundrowej – oraz sześciu obszarów o zróżnicowanym natężeniu procesów denudacyjnych. Osady peryglacjalne obejmują głównie piaski, iły, lessy, pyły oraz pokrywy gruzowe, formowane w wyniku współdziałania procesów peryglacjalnych, spływowych i eolicznych. Zidentyfikowano kilka typów struktur zmarzliny, w tym inwolucje, struktury kongeliflukcyjne i szczeliny mrozowe, których rozmieszczenie wskazuje na wyraźną piętrowość, zwłaszcza w południowych regionach Polski. Zróżnicowanie przestrzenne form i procesów peryglacjalnych odzwierciedla zmienność warunków klimatycznych plejstocenu oraz pozwala na rekonstrukcję zasięgu i intensywności morfogenezy peryglacjalnej w poszczególnych częściach kraju.
